5 Cruelty-Free Makeup Brands Ive Never Used | Makeup Wishlist

Monday, 27 August 2018

So if you read my blog then you will know that Im a big supporter of cruelty-free beauty and I try my hardest to only buy cf beauty products. I would say that 85%-90% of my makeup bag is cruelty-free. I still own some non cruelty-free makeup from before I made the switch and I have bought a couple since. Sometimes its hard to focus on all of the brands that are cruelty-free when so many well know ones (like MAC, Maybelline, Rimmel London, Loreal) continue to test their formulas and products on animals but its surprising how many brands are cf.

But Ive spent a lot of time over the last year or so researching different brands to see which ones are cruelty-free and which ones are not. There are a few brands in particular that are cruelty-free that I really, really want to try out and there are some brands that I was surprised to learn is CF. Yippe!

Smashbox
This is a brand that Ive only just found out is cruelty-free. For some reason I always had it in my head that they test on animals so anytime I would see this brand in Boots I would walk past it and just wish it was cf. But surprise! It is a higher end brand so you definitely cant just go out and buy the entire collection (well unless you are loaded in that case good on you!). I would love to try out the Primer Water, the Step by Step Contour Stick Trio and they've just launched a new limited edition Petal Metal collection with makeup artist and Instagram star Vlada Haggerty. The rose gold packaging is beautiful and I swatched a highlighter in store the other day and it is BLINDING! Its definitely on my wishlist.

Illamasqua
This is such a luxe makeup brand in my opinion and I never knew it was cruelty-free until I was reading this blog post from Cruelty-Free Kitty. I remember Zoella always raving about Illamasqua and I know that their eyeshadows and powders are amazing and even though they are a tad bit pricey they are things I would like to buy. The main thing I want to try out is their Beyond Powder highlighter in the shade 'OMG'. Its a baked powdered highlighter that adds a healthy glow with its lightweight texture and it comes in a selection of shades but 'OMG' looks like a great shade for my pale skin. And Illamasqua currently have a summer sale going on so if you want to try the brand out now is a good time.

Pixi
So technically Ive tried Pixi before but only their Glow Tonic which isnt a makeup item so it doesn't count. Ive wanted to try out Pixi makeup for years now. Their collaborations with different influencers and youtubers always look so pretty and have great reviews. Ive had my eye on the setting sprays for such a long time now and really I should just bite the bullet and buy one to try out. Another product of theirs I would love to try out is the Lower Lash mascara. I always have such an issue with my mascara smudging under my eyes and that mascara is suppose to stop that from happening.

Wet n wild
Wet n wild has just launched on Beauty Bay, which is my favourite online beauty store btw and when I got that email I was so excited. Ive seen so many youtubers from America using Wet n wild products and they all look really good and its an affordable brand. They sell makeup brushes from £2 and makeup is as cheap as £3 for a lipstick. I really want to try out their highlighters and foundations because they are two things that have had great reviews and you cant really go wrong with the price of them.

Hourglass
Now if I think of a luxe brand Hourglass is the first one that pops into my head. Everything about Hourglass just screams luxury to me and the price tag is definitely no exception. Have you seen the price of their products?! Their Ambient Lighting Powder costs a whopping £40.00! Hourglass' best sellers are the Ambient Lighting Powder which gives a candle-lit and "selfie perfect" finish, their Vanish Seamless Finish foundation stick and their Veil Mineral powder. If I won the lottery today I would go and buy everything from Hourglass. The packaging is very minimalistic and chic so that gets a thumbs up from me.

Were you surprised that any of these brands are cruelty-free? And if so which brand should I try out first?
