Why You Should Meditate | Mindful Meditation For Everyone

Im not sure if this is a blog post that most of you would expect from me but its definitely a post Ive been wanting to write for quite some time now. Mindfulness or Mindful Meditation is a mind-changing practice that everyone should do and its 100% helped me to change the way that I think and has made me feel better mentally and sometimes physically.

Most people when they hear 'meditation' instantly think of hippies and yoga and all things vegan and organic (I use to think like that) but thats really not the case. Mindfulness is something that is tuned into us human beings and it something that can be practiced anywhere, anytime and with anyone. You don't need to sit down with your legs crossed, humming with you're hands up in the air. You can literally just sit on your sofa with your eyes closed, hands on your lap in a quiet room and meditate.

Mindfulness (noun)
1. The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.
"their mindfulness of the wider cinematic tradition"

2. A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Health benefits of mindful meditation
Mindfulness has been proven to lower stress and anxiety levels, increases concentration, can help lower depression and even lower high blood pressure.

My personal mindful meditation journey
I've been meditating on and off for a couple of years now. It started when I use to get awful panic attacks almost daily and I downloaded the app called 'Calm' which is fantastic by the way. Anytime I would feel stressed I would plug in my earphones and start up the app. Its amazing how sitting in place, breathing and being aware of your body can make you feel so incredible and zen. But it wasn't until about 3 months ago that I really started to take meditation more seriously and my aim this year is to practice it religiously.

Easy meditation technique
The most simple meditation technique is seriously easy-peasy. Make sure you're sitting somewhere quite and comfortable and keep your back up straight because you will get so relaxed that you'll probably want to fall asleep.

Just take a deep breath in and breathe in positivity, exhale negativity. Repeat this for a couple of minutes building up to 10-15 minutes daily. Even just two minutes of meditation can make you feel so relaxed and can stop panic attacks.

Going to youtube for help and guidance
There are so many different and amazing youtubers out there who teach and share tips and tricks when it comes to meditation and its an easy way to find out more about the subject. A great youtuber to watch if you are starting out is Aussie traveller Rochelle Fox. She is the founder of Mindspo.com where she does online meditation courses and she has a youtube channel all about mindfulness, lifestyle and travel where she has a great mediation video for beginners. She is a real breath of fresh air and Ive honestly learnt so much about meditation through her channel.

I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe learnt something new about meditation. Please remember that Im just a normal girl and this is just what I do and what works for me.
