Little Ways To Treat Yourself This Winter

Friday, 9 December 2016

We really are in the middle of winter right now. Its been icy here in the UK and we've even had snow in some places but not where I live so Im sad about that. I really hope we have a white Christmas this year, that would be perfect.
In the winter time it can be easy for people to forget about themselves. You spend so much time worrying about what gifts you are going to buy your friends or family or what to wear to your works christmas party that its easy to forget to take some time out of your day for yourself. And everyone needs some 'me' time but that doesn't necessarily mean spending loads of money or turning into a giant prune from sitting in a bath for hours on end.

Buy a new candle.
And easy way to treat yourself is to buy a new scent. Its nice to treat yourself to a new candle each season and there are some amazing ones out at Christmas time. If you are lucky enough to be American then I am jealous of you because Bath & Body works come out with candles that sounds absolutely incredible! But if you're not, Yankee Candle of course always have some great candles. I recently bought the little mini Cherry Vanilla to try out and omg it smells amazing! Im definitely going to be buying a bigger size of it. Christmas Eve is another classic Yankee Candle for Christmas and that one smells lovely too and its a bright red candle so it looks the part.

Have a night in.
Plan out one night where you stay home and have a lazy day/night away from social media and work to snuggle up, have a hot drink, nice snacks and watch some festive films. I recommend Love Actually and Deck The Halls because they are classic Christmas movies.

Costa lindt hot choc.
This is next on my list of things to do because you cannot beat Lindt chocolate and Costa do yummy hot chocolates. So next time Im in town you can bet that I will be sneaking into Costa..

Buy a new onesie.
I am a huge fan of onesies. Isn't everyone?! Ive recently bought a new polar bear one from Asda and I am obsessed with it. Its so fluffy and it has glitter through it so it looks like snow. Ive been wearing it every single day!

Binge watch your fave TV show.
Even if you only have an hour free time a day for yourself you can always squeeze in an episode of your favourite show. Right now mine is Stranger Things and Im waiting for my sister to catch up so we can watch the last episode together.

DIY skin treatment.
Pinterest is bursting full of different winter skin DIY. From moisturisers to face masks they literally have everything. So do some browsing and find a treatment that suits your skin the best and give it a go. For me, Ive tried a gingerbread body scrub and I love it. You can find that DIY here

Try some new Lush products.
You don't have to be a bath person to buy things from Lush, they also have amazing skincare and shower products. Lush's Christmas releases are so nice and they all smell heavenly! Snow Fairy is a classic scent and this year they have brought out the Snow Fairy body conditioner which will be great if you have really dry skin in the winter months. One product I really want to try from Lush is the Sleepy body lotion. Its a lavender scented lotion designed to use before bed to help you get relaxed and have a great night sleep- something I really need.

Have a manicure.
This is something Ive been planning for a while. Ive only ever had a manicure once in my life and that was when I was 12! But I always say that I will treat myself soon to one but I never do so Christmas is a good time to do that and you get nice pretty, festive nails out of it.

Buy a new face moisturiser or serum/oil.
Obviously the cold winter months can take a toll on your skin and I don't know about you but my skin gets super dry, especially my face. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a new face cream then Nivea do some great ones and they are under £5. Ive been looking into buying a face oil this winter and I don't know which one to buy so if you have any recommendations please let me know because my skin is looking dull and dry.

What are some of your favourite ways to treat yourself? And don't forget to take some time out of your day for yourself every now and then.
